We are delighted to announce that our company, SME TradeLinks (Pty) Ltd, has achieved the “Accredited Training Provider” status with the Services SETA following a long and rigorous application process.
The accreditation process, which began in September last year, involved a thorough examination of our company’s standard operating procedures, its quality management systems, its business plans, its premises and facilities, its capabilities, its training programmes and service offerings.
SME TradeLinks met all the requirements for Services SETA Accreditation and was declared “Accredited Training Provider” with “Provider Accreditation Number 12668” on 3 July 2018.
Services SETA accreditation means that SME TradeLinks now holds accreditation for “New Venture Creation”, a South African Qualifications Framework (SAQA) registered and NQF Level 4 qualification which provides entrepreneurs in the SMME sector with the technical, business, managerial and financial skills required to create and sustain business enterprises.
According to SAQA, the purpose of the “New Venture Creation” qualification is to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge required by a person for the establishment and development of a small to medium business venture. SAQA further states that recipients of this qualification will be able to:
o Demonstrate an ability to identify and create a new venture.
o Demonstrate knowledge of interpersonal skills required in a business environment.
o Demonstrate an understanding of basic economics within a market economy.
o Manage a new venture by applying business principles and techniques.
o Demonstrate an understanding of the role of leadership and management.
According to Dr Salifou Siddo, the SME TradeLinks Chief Executive, the decision to choose Services SETA for accreditation and select “New Venture Creation” as an anchoring qualification is a strategic one. Services SETA is the largest SETA in South Africa and its mandate covers a much wider range of companies involved in a variety of economic and entrepreneurial activities.
Says Dr Siddo: “As a small business development and support organization, aligning our short courses, skills programmes, and learnerships to the “New Venture Creation” qualification, or to individual unit standards within this qualification, affords us the opportunity to extend our current programmes to a much wider corporate client base.”
Services SETA accreditation allows SME TradeLinks to offer accredited training that assists corporate clients in meeting the requirements and receive points for the skills development element of the BEE Scorecard while helping entrepreneurs acquire the skills and knowledge they need in order to establish and grow their enterprises.
“We look forward to rolling out our programmes and playing our part in ensuring that both SMME entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs have access to the skills they require as they pursue their dreams of establishing and managing their own enterprises”, Siddo concluded.
